Sponsoring the World Congress

During its almost 70 years of existence, IEA has organized expert meetings and roundtables in various parts of the world to study problems of pressing policy interest, with an emphasis on the relations between developing and industrialized countries. In addition to these efforts, the core activity of the IEA is the organization of the triennial world congress. The world congress is a global event, and offers a unique opportunity for those in the host country to have access to a network of international economists from diverse backgrounds. Indeed, the world congress is unique on many counts. First, it is the sole world meeting embracing all fields of economics, including all areas and all approaches, from theory to empirics. Second, because of its broadness, it attracts not only scholars but also distinguished economists from non-academic institutions such as central banks and other public institutions. Thirdly, it truly attracts economists from a very wide range of countries, permitting a rich exchange of views.

The upcoming IEA 19th World Congress will feature research presentations by leading economists from across the globe. More than 500 economists are expected to attend and over 400 papers will be presented in parallel academic sessions.  There will also be a number of policy sessions and keynote lectures.

A high level congress of this scope requires significant institutional support and sustained human and financial resources.  Sponsorship is critical to the success of the congress as it helps defray the cost of attracting high profile speakers and helps to ensure that registration costs can be set to enable maximum participation from economists and students from developed and developing countries.

Sponsorship provides an unparalleled opportunity to engage with prestigious academic and professional economists from around the world. It also allows your organization to be seen as actively contributing to global economic research.
